Rickie Byars showers the world with Devotional Music but Rickie ain’t just singing… Rickie is a masterful retreat facilitator with a creative process, and a repertoire of Devotional Songs to empower and inspire you.
She conducted the Agape International Choir of 100+ voices for 30 years, co-facilitated 25 years of her own Soul Sisters Retreats, co-facilitated 15 years of women’s retreats with Mary Manin Morrissey, learned life lessons (and sang) in four sessions with His Holiness the Dalai Lama, facilitated 5 retreats for Omega Institute. She has produced over 20 albums of inspirational music, written 100 chants, + 100 songs that folks know and even more that folks will never know. Rickie ain’t interested in winning a Grammy no mo’ but she IS interested in making a difference in the time she has left on the planet.
Now in the prime of life, Rickie guides the weekly Kuumba/B-hood Sunday Devotional and Soul Fulfilling LIVE Bible Party; both of which are powered by Kuumba in Motion, a non-profit 501 c3 whose mission is to encourage creative excellence and joyful expression in community. Now in its 15th year KUUMBA will present its third Annual Revival aka RIGASA Summer Revival, happening June 4th - 7th, 2026 at the prestigious 1440 Multiversity in Scotts Valley, (Northern) California. RIGASA is an acronym for Rest In God And Say Amen.
Rickie is learning to do just that, deepening in the ways of Jesus the Christ and doing her best to serve God in a Wholly Holy Way. She thrives in Los Angeles with her daughter - Georgia, her transgranddaughter - Nokware, her nephew - Germond, and usually someone in need of a place to stay for a while. Mother of two and Grandma to 5 amazing beings, Rickie Byars is truly blessed to live a simple yet profound Life, serving the world with her Songs of Devotion.
